BENEFITS — WHY ANJUNG KONSULT
What a focused industrial
consultancy offers that others do not.
This page sets out the specific differences between working with Anjung Konsult and engaging a general advisory practice or a large regional consulting firm.
Back to HomeAT A GLANCE
Six reasons industrial firms in Penang
find this kind of engagement useful.
Sector depth, not breadth
Our work is focused on manufacturing and industrial operations. We do not spread attention across retail, finance, healthcare or technology sectors.
Written deliverables that hold up
Every engagement produces a document the firm can read, share internally and return to. Presentation decks with no supporting logic are not what we produce.
The same consultant throughout
No handoff to a junior team after the first meeting. The consultant who scopes the work leads the work and writes the document.
Scope set and held
The scope is agreed in writing before work begins. Fees are fixed. Engagements are not extended without discussion and agreement from both sides.
Local knowledge, available
We are based in Bayan Lepas. The industrial parks, the supplier relationships, and the operational context of this region are part of our daily working environment.
Pricing that fits the work
Fees are set for each service type, not calculated from open-ended hourly billing. The cost of the engagement is clear at the outset.
IN DETAIL
What each of these advantages looks like in practice.
Expertise concentrated in the right place
General consulting firms can advise on manufacturing operations, but their consultants are also advising on retail strategy, financial services processes and public sector programmes in the same period. The industrial context is one item in a broad portfolio. Our work is not structured that way. The three service types we offer — operations diagnostic, strategy review and operating model redesign — are all oriented to the same sector, and the knowledge that accumulates from each engagement feeds into the next.
- Direct manufacturing plant experience, not just advisory experience about manufacturing
- Familiarity with Penang industrial park dynamics, supply chain relationships and customer mix patterns
- Service scope limited to areas where that depth is genuinely available
Deliverables built for internal use
The documents we produce are written for the firm's own leadership to read, debate and act on — not for external presentation or investor audiences. The language is plain, the structure is logical, and the reasoning is visible. When we say a process is creating friction, the document explains specifically what friction we observed and where. When we set out options, the basis for each option is stated.
- Typically ten to forty pages depending on engagement type — thorough but not padded
- Logic visible in the writing — not summarised in headline bullets with no underlying explanation
- Delivered as a final reviewed document, not a first draft for the client to finish
Senior engagement without a junior substitute
Many consulting firms win work through a senior partner, then assign execution to junior staff. The partner appears at the start and at the final presentation; the work in between is done by someone with less experience. We do not operate this way. The consultant who attends the site visit, leads the interviews and writes the document is the consultant you spoke with at the start. There is no team handling the day-to-day on your behalf.
- One point of contact with full context throughout the engagement
- No briefing of junior staff — observations are first-hand throughout
- The written document reflects the consultant's own judgement, not a committee summary
Clear, fixed pricing
Hourly billing creates a misalignment between the consultant's interest and the client's. The longer the work takes, the higher the fee — which is not necessarily in the client's favour. Our fees are fixed for each engagement type: RM 590 for the Operations Diagnostic, RM 1,750 for the Contract Manufacturing Strategy Review, and RM 3,300 for the Operating Model Redesign. These are agreed before work begins and do not change if the engagement takes more time than expected.
- Fixed fees stated on the engagement scope document before work begins
- No hourly billing or fee escalation mid-engagement
- Fees sized proportionately to the scope — shorter engagements are priced accordingly
Outcomes that remain with the firm
The purpose of an engagement is to leave the firm in a better position to manage its own situation — not to create an ongoing dependency on external advice. The written deliverables are designed to be used by the firm's own people, not to require a consultant to interpret them. Where the Operating Model work includes advisory support through the first implementation phase, that support is defined and time-bounded in the scope. Retainer arrangements that extend indefinitely are not something we offer.
- Deliverables usable by the firm's leadership without ongoing consultant involvement
- Advisory support where included is time-bounded, not open-ended
- The engagement ends when the work is done — not when a retainer period expires

WHAT SETS US APART
Three things we do that most consulting firms do not.
We write the deliverable ourselves
The written output of every engagement is drafted and reviewed by the consultant who did the work. There is no outsourced writing, no template filled in by a junior, and no text generated from a standard report library. The document reflects what was actually observed.
We assess fit before accepting work
We begin every potential engagement with a conversation to assess whether the work is likely to be useful. If our services are not a strong fit for what the firm needs, we say so. We do not take on engagements where the value proposition is unclear, because the outcome for the firm will not justify the investment.
We do not pad scope to fill a fee
Our fees are set at levels that reflect the work required. We do not extend timelines or add deliverables to justify a higher fee. The Operations Diagnostic is four weeks because that is what it takes — not because a longer engagement generates more revenue. This keeps the engagement proportionate to the actual question being addressed.
